The cultural concerns Fenosa Gas Natural, launched in 1977 a permanent exhibition on the gas which had the historical evolution of this energy in our country and showed, through graphic systems, audiovisual and computer, the features and applications of natural gas as energy Clean, efficient and environmentally friendly. The Exhibition which was located at the registered office in Avenida Portal de l'Angel, 22, of Barcelona, was closed temporarily in 2006 for the change of registered office to the Plaça del Gas, 1, also in Barcelona.

Throughout 2006 we materialize the ideas developed in previous years regarding the implementation of a "Museum of Gas", which includes the existing previous experiences Fenosa Gas Natural, allowing from the field of Natural Gas Foundation, the development of a discourse-oriented museum explaining the historical evolution of the gas industry, and electricity in Spain from its beginnings in the nineteenth century, dedicated to the production of town gas from coal for use for lighting, to present the modern natural gas, cleaner fossil energy, multi-use, and easy hybridization with renewable energies and new energies, linking well with the environmental discourse of the Foundation itself.

After the necessary analysis and studies, it was decided that the proper location of the Museum buildings would Plaça del Gas de Sabadell, once the appropriate agreements with the City Council. The buildings belong to the late nineteenth, early twentieth century.

The Board took the relevant agreements in June 2006 and the Board of Directors of Gas Natural SDG, SA, and in July the same year saw the signing of a cooperation agreement between the company and the City of Sabadell, to guide action. These important decisions have opened the scope of the Foundation to a new and exciting field to develop a cultural facility quality, respectful of history, and responsible for their preservation and dissemination, hoping to inaugurate the new facilities in 2011.
