Gas History Center

The historic tour Gas Natural Fenosa starts with its constitution in Barcelona, in the distant year of 1843. Since then he has developed his service to the community, providing the first gas lighting to the streets and public spaces, after providing basic energy for the current model of society, both in terms of housing, like retailers, the industry or power generation. In addition, Gas Natural Group in the beginning created the first factory and public distribution of gas in Spain, later introducing the natural gas in the country, continuously maintaining leadership in the sector. Moreover, at present, appears as a leading actor in Latin America, and a position as an operator of LNG worldwide.

The presence in the electricity sector from 1896 to 1987, with conventional power plants from 2002 and combined cycle gas, a position that culminated with the merger with Union Fenosa in 2009, is also an important part of your journey.

In this context, and to ensure the conservation, preservation and dissemination of the important history of Gas Natural Group, was established in 2004 within the scope of the Foundation, the Centre for History of Gas, as a tool for the revitalization of a story 170 years, and as the continuation, with a clear extension of the direction and activities of historical archives created by Catalana de Gas, SA in 1987, and later continued by Gas Natural SDG, SA since 1991.

The Gas History Centre aims at disseminating the historical heritage of Gas Natural Group, through relevant research, publications and production of publications, organization and development of events, courses and seminars.

Also creating and maintaining a Knowledge Centre that allows it to be a reference for the papers and presentations made.
